Maid of Honor Bridal Shower

by Sarah

The Bridal Shower Must Be PlannedOne of the most important jobs of the maid of honor is to plan the bridal shower.  Yes, you may have plenty of other important tasks with wedding preparation such as maid of honor speeches, but planning the bridal shower is an important one as well that needs to have plenty of time devoted to it.  So, get ready to plan because your job as the bridesmaid is to make the bridal shower as fun and relaxed as possible.

Similar to a baby shower, the bridal shower is a gathering of friends that involves gift giving to the bride to be.  As a maid of honor, you will work alongside the other bridesmaids to plan the bridal shower.  Plan on having people bring food and drinks as well along with desserts.  Keep in mind that guests will be bringing gifts for both you and the groom because these are gifts for the new marriage.  But don’t invite the groom to the bridal shower.  This is a girls only event!  And remember, this is one of your maid of honor duties!

As the bridesmaid, plan on having the bridal shower at least 4 to 6 weeks before the actual wedding.  This will give time for the new bride to be to prepare the marriage with the gifts that are given to her.  The guests will also be able to  give tips and advice, tell stories, help with some planning arrangements as well.  This is a good opportunity for the maid of honor to receive new ideas and recommendations from friends and family that will be attending the wedding.

The bridal shower is just another task for you to pile on top of your already busy schedule.  Make sure to set some time apart in order to write your maid of honor speeches because that is an important part of the wedding as well.

Haha, I wouldn’t doubt that for a second! I was stressing out sooooo much near the end and the speech didn’t make it any easier…

The bridal shower is such a big deal and can be load of fun, but don’t make the mistake of drinking too much, and if possible don’t have it the night before the wedding.

The wedding day is always the most special day of any man and woman. Writing the speech shouldn’t be a huge deal!

Just try not to read the speech from a paper – it sounds a lot better if you can improvise/speak from the heart :)
